We all had a great week. During Wednesday, we went to Woodlands Waterfront to collect/clean up the area. We had to walk there via Admiralty Park which was super long and tiring for us. Luckily, we had friends to talk to and play with. It was a 20-minutes long journey from our school to Woodlands Waterfront. When we reached there, it was practically clean and the only "rubbish" that we could find are dried leaves and cigarette butts. After a 15-minutes rubbish hunt, we gathered at a small hut where our form teacher, Mr Poh asked us to gather at the playground. We wanted to buy drinks from the vending machines so we rushed there immediately when the break starts. After the break, it was time to head back to our school. My friends and I sang cheers as we strolled towards the school. We were faster than the rest of the class so we had to wait for them at Republic Polytechnic. As we reached the school, we were practically very exhausted. Everyone proceeded back home as we rest for the next day.
With exams drawing near and October is coming soon, many wedding events are occuring. Last Sunday, my family and I went to Malaysia to attend a relative's wedding dinner. It was the first time that I saw so many people packed in a banquet hall. We met so many familiar relatives and chatted with them. Everyone was busy talking to everyone and sharing their experiences.
Soon, the wedding ceremony had started. The bride which is my cousin and the groom walked into the room with smiles on their faces. Everyone clapped for the newly-weds and cheered for them. They then cut the wedding cake and poured the champagne. Then, the waiter delivered the dishes to our table. A variety of dishes appeared one after another and our stomachs were filled to the brim. It was a joyous event indeed. Next week, I am attending another wedding ceremony. That will be another post...
My english was quite weak when I was young and up until now, my summary and use-of-own-words questions are the most difficult questions to me. I was not very good in picking out points in Summary and I often skipped the main points. As my vocabulary is not very good, use-of-own-words questions challenged me as they required certain words to be rephrased which need a vast knowledge of different synonyms.
Composition is quite okay to me as its basically just writing out a narrative/personal recount or writing a situational writing like letters. Although at times, the composition questions may be difficult to me as I need to crack my brain in order to have a storyline, it is quite okay and not very challenging.
My comprehension is quite weak too, especially at Inference questions. I often cannot come up with an inference to solve the question. Overall, English is quite difficult for me and I hope I can improve on it.
On 22 August 2011, we had our Community Involvement Programme (CIP). It was the second CIP event in National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC). We were supposed to report at 3.00pm (it was a Monday) outside NPCC room. Before the event, we had dance lessons which ended quite late, resulting in Cheng En telling the teacher to dismiss us straightaway at 2.45pm. We only had 10 minutes to change into our Physical Training (PT) kit and only 5 minutes to grab a bite.
After we had changed into our PT kit, we gathered outside the NPCC room at exactly 3pm sharp. The teachers then took attendance and we headed straight to Admiralty Park for the CIP event. After we reached there, we were told to pick up shovels in order to clean the park , or more specifically, the forest. I was in charge of the bag that was supposed to carry all the weeds together with Wen Kai, Ryan and Shawn. The Secondary 1 and Secondary 2 were doing a great job, digging the plants out and also pushing the leaves out of the path. Soon, our bag was already full. We kept on collecting and digging the plants while having a competition between the diggers to dig out the largest and tallest plants. Everyone came with huge plants as they boasted to the teachers while putting it into the bag. Our senior took some photos of us too!
After all that carrying, I was very tired. We were almost finished with the digging and the only thing to do was to move back to the amphitheater where our bags were. I switched positions with Rui Hao and carried the shovel back to the amphitheater. The shovel was much, much lighter than the bag. Ryan also switched positions and carried the shovel too. We had a great talk with our teachers and squadmates as we moved back to the amphitheater. Ryan kept hitting my foot with the shovel and I accidentally hit Miss Ong with the shovel. Oops! As we finally reached the amphitheater, our gloves were all dirty and very stinky. Our sir then instructed us to throw away our gloves. Then, he was scolded by teachers as he was supposed to collect them and give it back to the cleaners of the park.
After we were dismissed, I felt so happy and also exhausted as I got to clean the park and do some manual labor for the first time in my life. I also appreciated the construction workers as they had to dig everyday. Shawn and I bought some ice-cream as we walked to the nearest bus-stop. I had no energy to walk home thus I had to take the bus home. When I reached home, I finally had dinner to boost my energy and do my homework!
We were assigned an English project this week. It requires us to design and produce a brochure for the "supposed" foreign teenagers that are visiting Singapore. The whole class were split into groups of 4. My group consists of Me, Jing Ying, Zheng Ing and also Tiffany. My group decided that at 3pm today, we were to reach the Woodlands Regional Library and meet up together to discuss about the brochure.
At 3pm, I met up with Zheng Ing and we waited for the two girls to arrive. Tiffany arrived later and told us that Jing Ying had bagpipe lessons and would come even later. Apparently, there was no wifi connection in the library as we did not know the password for the wifi at the library. Tiffany then suggested that we went to McDonalds to look for any wifi connection area. Unfortunately, there was no luck. We decided to go to Causeway Point to search for the wifi connection. We ate some fries and proceeded to Causeway Point.
On the way there, we saw Jing Ying eating at KFC with her Girls' Brigade squad mates. I was so angry then! We went to different fast-food outlets like MosBurgers, Texas Chicken, Long John Silvers and even Yoshinoya! Tiffany asked the employees there for help, but to no avail. When we finally gave up and went back to KFC where Jing Ying was still eating. Alvy decided to help us with the library's connection as she had the password for the connection. We finally went back to the library where Alvy set-up the connection in Tiffany's laptop.
As Alvy was busy setting up and going to Tumblr, Zheng Ing and I decided to play games instead. After much "discussion", we were about to go home. Zheng Ing and I took the same bus home, we had a great talk on the way and I finally reached home. Exhausted from all that walking, happy about the events that happened. This might have been one of the best days ever.
So terrible when you are sick, indeed. Our classmate has got HFMD(Hand Foot Mouth Disease) recently, we felt so sad for him. If you were my classmates/schoolmates you should know very well! He had to skip Common Test as he cannot come to school. So, treasure your friends and family well, before they became sick and eventually passed away, we would regret it deeply. My classmate was a great example (No, I am not cursing him to, you know, passed away! Friends FTW (For The Win) ! ) Hope you will recover from that terrible and absolutely-so-horrible disease and stay healthy and strong forever! Totally looking forward to your welcome-back-party!
Okay this is going to be just a short blog entry, everyone experiences boredom once in a while. Seriously, what should we do when we are bored. I am out of ideas already! Boredom is like a disease spreading from place to place, "infecting" random people all around the world. What would you do when you are bored? Sleep maybe?
Introduction of Myself! *DrumRoll* Well, my name is Chung Loong. I study in Riverside Secondary School and I hope I can befriend you!
